The 5th Baikal International Conference "Magnetic Materials. New technologies" will be held in Irkutsk, between September 21st and 25th, 2012. For BICMM, 2012 is the year of the anniversary of fifty years of the Problem Laboratory of Physics of Magnetic Phenomena, which was founded at the Irkutsk State Pedagogical Institute (now - East Siberian Academy of Education) in 1962. The first head of the laboratory was Buravichin V.A (the honored scientist of the Russian Federation, honorary professor of higher school of the Russian Federation).
The conference is organized by the department of the technology, business and techniques of its teaching of ESAE, the department of the physics of ESAE, the laboratory of physics of the magnetic phenomena of ESAE in collaboration with the department of solid state electronics of ISU. Members of the international and Russian scientific and engineering communities interested in recent developments in magnetism and related technologies are invited to attend.
About Irkutsk:
Irkutsk is the oldest cities of the Eastern Siberia. It was found in 1661 near the Angara river. Nowadays there are 750 thousand inhabitants live here. Irkutsk is big scientific center of Eastern Siberia. There have 12 Universities and 9 Institutions of Russian Academy of Sciences in the city. There are the scientific laboratories engaged by research of a thin magnetic films, GMI effect, magnetic properties of the disorder ferromagnetic materials. In Irkutsk it took place 4 international conferences and 9 all-Russian conferences on physics of magnetic phenomena earlier. There are plenty of monuments of architecture, museums, and theatres. The lake Baikal is situated in 60 kilometers from Irkutsk. The airport of Irkutsk is located in 10 kilometers from the center of the city. The conference will be take place at East Siberian State Academy of Education. Organizers of conference plan to meet the participants of conference at the airport and at railway station.
For participants from the Europe, it is better to reach to Irkutsk through Moscow. There are 3-4 flights from Moscow to Irkutsk daily. The approximate time of flight is about 6 hours.
For participants from Asia, you can reach Irkutsk through Vladivostok or Khabarovsk, and through Beijing and Shenyang as well.
Irkutsk weather in late September:
The air temperature in Irkutsk in the daytime is expected to be about +15… +18C , and at night about +5…+10C. It is usually warm and sunny but showers are possible.
